Different browsers will handle background images in dropdown boxes in different ways. Because of this you should check that both the following options are easy to read.

Most browsers will display the drop part of your dropdown like this. Make sure you can read the text! ... if you can't you will need to change either the Inactive Tab Text Colour or the Inactive Tab Background Colour.

Because of the way some text is displayed in chat rooms, the control centre, and occasionally in the WYSIWYG editor (when it doesn't load properly) you must be able to read black text over the WYSIWYG Background Colour. There is no way of changing the text colour in some areas, so you must change the background colour if you can't read black text over this background colour.
